Introduction

COVID-19 has changed how Early Learning and Care and School-Aged Childcare Services operate.

Many settings all over the country reopened safely on June 29th 2020 and by September most settings were open again. Currently, many settings are closed, except for those providing a service to essential workers. We understand that COVID-19 related restrictions are likely to be a factor until the rollout of vaccines is more advanced.

Early Childhood Ireland has been working with the DCEDIY, key stakeholders and especially our members to help develop new ways of operating to adjust effectively to this ever-changing and challenging environment. This website includes a compilation of the key guidance notes that have been circulated to our members along with advice and guidance on other key areas. It is a combination of the accumulated knowledge of experts across the sector including our members.
As challenging as this changed environment is, as a sector we are in this together and we are focused on the need to find the best way to secure the future of Early Learning and Care and School-Aged Childcare in the immediate and longer-term.
COVID-19 affects all aspects of the operation of Early Learning and Care and School-Aged Childcare services from working with your staff, children and their families and the public.

COVID-19 has for now fundamentally altered how our sector operates. Similar to other sectors, we are now looking to the virtual world to support how we work, communicate and meet.

Please take time to review each of the areas above and bear in mind that the Covid-19 situation is constantly evolving. We will regularly update this guidance information to reflect the current dynamic environment.
