COVID-19 has changed how Early Learning and Care and School Aged Childcare Services will operate over the coming months. The Taoiseach mandated the closure of the sector on March 12 to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Many settings all over the country reopened safely on June 29th 2020. Others have reopened since then and by early September most settings will be open again. We understand that COVID-19 related restrictions are likely to be a factor in Ireland for the next 12-18 months before a vaccine is widely available.
Early Childhood Ireland has been working with the DCYA, key stakeholders and our members to help develop new ways of operating to adjust effectively to this changed environment. This website includes a compilation of the key guidance notes that have been circulated to our members during this period of closure along with advice and guidance on other key areas. It is a combination of the accumulated knowledge of expert staff across the sector including our members.
As challenging as this changed environment is, as a sector we are in this together and we are focused on the need to find the best way to secure the future of childcare in the immediate and longer term.
COVID-19 affects all aspects of the operation of childcare services from working with your staff, children and their families and the public.
